The article ‘We are made of this lagoon’: Ecological re-story-ation in Venice written in collaboration with the University of Cambridge has just been published in the journal Environment & Planning E: Nature and Space (open access). It explains the case for “serious engagement" with local voices, lagoon users and diverse expressions of Venice’s long history and future visions – “beyond the quantitative indicators which have induced increasingly technoscientific knowledge-stories yet done little to rally collective action for change.”

This work was based on the outcome of a participatory mapping activity during the annual Community Engagement workshop in 2023 organised through the WaterLANDS project.  The immediate outcome of this collaboration has been shared as a community repository in the form of a StoryMap.  Together, this research confirms WahV’s mission to overcome “prevailing narratives of decline and renew connections between community and commons.”
